Fears:
Relationships - well, we didn’t see that one coming! However, Aiden’s fear runs a little deeper than “I don’t want to be tied down”. When he falls for someone, he falls hard. Like, face-to-pavement hard. And that’s not a good thing.
Letting people in - not just loves, but friends, colleagues; anyone in his life. Aiden doesn’t want them to get close, because once someone had wormed their way in, they’re damn difficult to get back out.
Growing old - Aiden really does not want to think about that. Just the idea of being over 30 creeps him out, and that’s less than a year away! Its something he tries to push from his mind as much as possible, but when he does think about it, its almost enough to make him be sick.
Quirks/Habits:
Is having too much sex a habit? Aiden doesn’t think so, but his staff are beginning to.
Drinking - not to excess, and not all the time, but he definitely does it than a mayor should [I.e. at all, what with it being illegal and all]
Getting other people drunk - he’d say it was more of a talent than a habit, but that’s something else he seems to do rather too much.
Leaving work early - Aiden hardly ever spends the whole day in his office; he doesn’t need to, he can get though the amount of work sitting on his desk in the morning in a few hours; No point wasting the whole day.
Likes:
Sex
Money
Some combination of the above two
Eye candy
Going to the pictures - mainly so he can use it as an excuse to put his arm round people
Big fancy office chairs
His car - it’s a 1926 Pierce-Arrow Series 80, what’s not to like?
Alcohol [secretly]
Going down to the police station and annoying Charlie Winters/Whoever else happens to be there.
Dislikes:
Fridged people
Clingy people
Some combination of the above two
Work that takes more than half an hour to complete
His office [when it’s not got eye candy in it]
Hangovers
The fact that Sally [his secretary] won’t put out
Having to kowtow to the demands of the council
Compromise
Not getting his own way
Detailed Report:
Arrogant and Cunning; One of Aiden’s most prominent traits is his arrogance, which can sometimes be a great boon, but also get him into a lot of trouble. He lives by his father’s philosophy that as long as you know a bit about what you’re talking about, and you’re full of confidence, you can get anywhere. Aiden mainly uses it to further his political career and worm his way into people’s pants, and it’s served him quite well so far. Of course, there’s been those times where whoever he’s been talking to has known far more about the subject than him, and he’s ended up looking ridiculous. He likes to pretend those times haven’t happened, though, and people tend to glaze over them when you‘re the mayor. However, when it comes to it, Aiden is capable of putting his arrogance on hold and playing the long game, be it flattery or submissiveness that’s needed, as long as he gets what he wants in the end. He’s learnt to use words to his advantage
Surly and Childish; In many respects, Aiden hasn’t grown up much since he was 15. He has a tendency to throw a bit of a tantrum if he doesn’t get his way, then sulk about it for a few hours to a few days, depending on how severe the incident was - thankfully, he generally manages to refrain from having these fits in public, but it can be a bit of a chore for his personal staff to deal with. He’s been known to hold grudges about things for months after whatever the incident, and it takes a fair bit of grovelling to get him to forgive you. He can be quite easily cheered up by something he likes - going out for a drive in his car, or getting laid, but he’ll probably go back to sulking again afterwards. This can be over the tiniest thing, but when something really serious happens, Aiden kind of goes into melt down, ending up as an emotionless mass, screwing around a hell of a lot, then just bouncing back to normal without warning. Thankfully, that’s never happened during his political career, but there’s always the chance it will.
Lazy and Lustful; Aiden rarely does anything that requires more than the minimum amount of effort, unless he’s really gaining from it. This generally only applies to little things - does he really want that coffee? If there isn’t anyone on hand to fetch it for him, he probably doesn’t. Important things, like getting his work done, or getting someone into bed, he actually does put effort into, but everything that doesn’t really need, he wont bother with. The same can’t be said for his expenses - he probably didn’t need that new car, but he got it any way. On top of this, Aiden spends a fair proportion of his time seducing anyone and everyone he can. He knows he needs to be discreet, for the sake of his career, but that doesn’t prevent him from inviting people up to his office. He just does it when no one [or no one important] is watching.

Aiden yawned and stretched, leaning back into his strangely comfortable leather chair. He’d only been at work for two and a half hours, but he’d already completed everything he’d had to do, and nothing else had shown up on his desk or in his inbox. He didn’t kid himself - he knew accounting was boring, but he was damn good at it, and that was what mattered. And if he was good enough to finish his days work within three hours of being there, what was the point in him staying any longer? He’d check back in the afternoon to see if any more had appeared, but generally there wasn’t enough to warrant staying and doing it - it’d only take him an hour or so the next morning, and if there was a really emergency, well, they had his number.
Stretching again, he pushed himself out of his chair, swiped up his keys and his blackberry from the desk, and sauntered out of the office. Yvette, his secretary, was doing something that looked a lot more like work than he ever did at her desk outside his door. He flashed a grin at her as he walked by “I’m out, Moneypenny,” He called, turning to face her so he was walking backwards for a few seconds “Tell M to call me if it’s a matter of national security

Aiden had walked about three meters down the street before he suddenly decided he really wanted chips. There was a Starbucks round the corner that he often went to when cutting work - the staff were cute, and if he was a regular, he didn’t get so many comments about his accent - but right then, a blueberry muffin wouldn’t cut it. There wasn’t really anywhere in Ambrose Downtown that did a proper plate of chips. Well, there wasn’t really anywhere in America that did, but the closest he was going to get was if he headed down to the beach.
It wasn’t a long walk down to the shoreline, but it was enough for Aiden to work up even more of an apatite than he’d already had. As soon as he was drawing close to the strip, he could smell the mixture of delicious, terrible bad-for-you foods sold there. There was someone selling hotdogs from a stand just around from where the street he was on hit the strip, and it was almost enough to tempt him away from his original meal choice, but his eyes lit on a brightly coloured blackboard propped outside of a restaurant, and the word CHIPS in big letters set him straight.
As he drew closer, he could see the restaurant staff whizzing about on roller-skates, and he half wished he’s stopped for the hotdog instead. This place was ridiculous, and he took himself far too seriously to set foot inside, but just as he had that thought, another one popped up - the girls working there all seemed to be in quite short skirts, and the combination of that and the high speeds they could achieve on the roller-skates could make for an interesting afternoon, so Aiden steeled himself and stepped inside. It was warmer in the restaurant than outside, but only marginally - California never really got that cold, even in autumn - but Aiden shrugged out of his suit jacket anyway, and listened his tie before sliding into one of the booth seats that lined the side walls. With any luck, no one who might recognise him would turn up. [/quote]
